The “Taste Taiwan” Culinary Tour Chef Nomination will select three chefs (one from Los Angeles, one from Chicago, and one from Toronto) for an exclusive eight-day trip in Taiwan from the end of September to early October 2014.
The tour will focus on the culinary highlights of the country. During their tour, the chefs will visit local restaurants, fresh produce markets, night markets, and culinary institutes. Each of the chefs will develop an innovative Taiwanese dish, and there will be a cooking competition at the end of the trip.
The three chefs will be filmed by a production crew, and the footage will be used to produce a 30-minute show. The show will air in North America in 2014/2015.
Upon returning from his or her trip, each chef will host a culinary event to promote a new special menu inspired by Taiwanese cuisine at his/her restaurant. The restaurant will promote the Taiwan-inspired dishes as its new special offering on the menu, and collaborate to promote tourism in Taiwan for a month after the event.
